Experienced, licensed insurance agents build and maintain relationships with executives in small to middle market sized organizations or affluent people based in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, or Arizona. Calhoun Agents focus on the client needs for safety and security. Calhoun promotes frugality, integrity, efficiency, and capability through its choice of agents who represent it, and through its choices of carriers represented.
Agents are full-time, exclusive, dedicated professionals who are encouraged to specialize inside the wide insurance field. Providing complex property/casualty insurance services, the agency successfully supports technology, hospitality, manufacturing, directors' and officers liability, and contractors among other standard property and liability risks. Financial services include annuities, life insurance, disability insurance, and interesting hybrids of long-term-care related products. Health insurance services include group and individual products from all major carriers in MN, IA, and WI, as well as a wellness incentive plan that can be assessed separately or in tandem to other health insurance products.
Calhoun knows how to communicate with carriers to deliver the best loss control services that major carriers can provide. These special services deepen our key relationships to the carriers, expand our knowledge of carriers' products, deliver added-value service to the client, and promote safety and enhance security for the agency, the carrier, the client, and the agent.
New insurance producers are compensated by commission. While significant commission can be earned in the first year, in general, the agency reviews commission promises of over $60,000 annually in the first year with a great deal of skepticism. Agents are discouraged from evaluating high commissioned products and "pushing product". Instead, building relationships slowly and consistently has served our clients well for 101 years.
New insurance producers are responsible for identifying new opportunities from within our client base of 5,000 clients; providing leadership to guide prospective accounts and key carriers together to form new clients for the agency; establishing credibility, knowledge and trust both externally and internally; and achieving new business sales goals.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
Insurance License
2-5 years documented successful insurance sales, preferably business to business
Strong prospecting and new business development skills
Computer literacy
